Brief / Feasibility / Concept Design
In beginning the design process with you, the initial step is to understand your Project Brief. We meet with you on site to walk through and discuss the direction and changes you are looking to make, and the project budget. This initial design consultation is usually 1-2 hours. From this discussion, we prepare a concept sketch design and a feasibility summary for the project.
Design
The next phase of the design process sees a concept develop into a detailed design. We explore and develop the design: the spaces and their functions, the connections between spaces, the volumes, voids and small moments of delight that can be incorporated, the materials, the way we can optimise natural light and orientation in the design. We discuss and review this with you along the way, over detailed drawings and 3D models of the project. The input of relevant secondary consultants such as structural engineers is brought in at this point.
Construction details and documentation
The developed design for the project is then worked up into technical detail drawings, schedules and specifications for the Building Permit, the pricing of the works by builders, and ultimately for construction on site. The co-ordination of secondary consultant documentation also forms part of this contract documentation set for the project.
On Site
Once on site, we manage the Contract between you and your builder throughout the construction period. We regularly visit site, respond to site questions, review shop drawings, discuss progress with the builder, assess progress claims by the builder, and approve progress payments for work completed. We love being on site seeing your project realised, and our presence on site ensures your project is delivered with the design intent and quality as detailed.

Our fees are determined by the scope and complexity of the proposed works. We are happy to be engaged for the initial concept design and feasibility phase. Please contact us for a fee proposal for your project.

The design consultation is a 1.5hr workshop with you to explore your project, conducted directly with you on site (Victoria, Australia) or via Zoom or Teams App online.
Following the design session, we will prepare a design feasibility report and concept sketches summarising our discussion with you.
